- According to Guillem Balague analysis, Atletico Madrid are planning on pushing Thomas Partey ‘out of the door’ this summer transfer as Arsenal are keen to sign him.
The legendary midfielder has attracted the interest Arsenal and Manchester United especially after his spectacular performances against Liverpool in the Champions League.
Balague thinks that Partey could end up at the Emirates but at the same time he understands that the Gunners may fail to afford his £45m release clause following financial strain caused by coronavirus pandemic.
“Atletico Madrid are pushing Partey out of the door. They are saying that they believe that Thomas won’t stay there next season,” Balague said.
“They believe he will be in the Premier League & they’ve got indications that Arsenal will be the club that he joins.
“From the info I’m getting on the kind of money that is available at Arsenal, it’s not a lot, I’d be very surprised if Arsenal pay €50m for him. I don’t think they’ve got a lot of money. We’ll see but this is because of expenditure from last year, this year & COVID-19.” He added
Los Rojiblancos boss Diego Simeone has shared his belief in Partey stating that his excellent performance is the reason he has attracted interest from several clubs in Europe.
“Thomas is the one who best understands this position and the transition from defence to attack, shooting, scoring, providing assists, and playing passes between the lines. When he’s at his best level consistently, he’s so good that all the best teams in Europe are looking at him.” Simeone said.
Partey has made 25 league appearances for Los Rojiblancos, starting 22 of their games and scoring twice this season.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta shared his opinion on spending €50m on a midfielder, he stated: “Well the plans I had were not obviously considering the coronavirus and all the side effects that it has had.
“We know what we have to do to improve the team, that’s for sure. Whether we’re able to do it the way we want, that will be a different story.” He added.
