USMNT is ready to continue their positive trend after winning the CONCACAF Nations League with a dramatic win over Mexico in the final. Greg Behalter’s men surely have the home advantage as usual but the squad here is excluding the stars in major European league, which would be their flaw when they are facing off the high profile team. However, Behalter believes in his MLS-based squad, especially after they could thump Canada to take over the top position. In the next game against Jamaica in the quarter final, it would be another challenge for Christian Roldan and Co to prove that they could exceed the public’s expectation in the tournament.
Both teams’ previous games
USA managed to snatch an important 1-0 win over Canada. Their winning goal was scored by the 24-year old right back Shaq Moore at the first minute of the match. It was sufficient to topple Canada in group B.
The Reggae Boyz, on the other hand, suffered a 0-1 loss from Costa Rica, which put them on the second of group C. The former Twente and Fulham man, Bryan Ruiz, netted the only goal of the game.
Gregg Berhalter is likely to deploy 4-2-3-1 formation counting on Gyasi Zardes and Paul Arriola as wide attacker to support Daryl Dike or Nicholas Gioachini as the targetman while Kellyn Acosta or Christian Roldan could be feature as the playmaker behind the striker.
Meanwhile, Theodore Whitmore could be in favour of 3-4-2-1 or 3-5-2 by piling up midfielders in front of the defenders to frustrate the Americans. Fulham man Bobby Cordova-Reid and Bayer Leverkusen man Leon Bailey could be the attacking midfielder to support Philadelphia Union forward Corey Burke.
Players to watch
DC United man, Paul Arriola is one the notable figures upfront. Some other important players to watch are midfielder Cristian Roldan, defender Walker Zimmerman and last but not least the senior forward Gyasi Zardes who has netted twelve goals in 56 appearances.
Jamaica seems to rely on several names playing in Europe such as Bayer Leverkusen wide attacker Leon Bailey, Fulham man Bobby Decordova-Reid and Michael Hector. Some other key men to watch are Cory Burke, Charleroi forward Shamar Nicholson and defender Alvas Powell.
USA vs Jamaica Prediction
USMNT still has the home advantage to seal a win here. They might be without their stars in Europe such as Giovanni Reyna, Christian Pulisic or Zak Steffen but Gregg Belhalter’s side still remains strong. Leon Bailey and Co would have to steal the goal as early as possible to give pressure on the home side. Otherwise, they will lose the chance to stumble them.
USA vs Jamaica Betting odds
The USA remains the favourite here. They are priced to win at 5.60, whereas Canada’s odds to win are at 28.80. The value for a draw result is at 15.75.
