With the latest update, their expected training schedule is delayed and they are still in progress of the isolation. The supposedly exciting match might be turning to a game of two teams without optimised conditions. Yet, it remains interesting to see how both sides bounce back from this potential crisis when they are squaring off in Estadio La Cartuja, Sevilla next week.
Both teams’ latest news
Spain skipper Sergio Busquets is set to miss out this fixture after being tested positive coronavirus. He is not the only one eventually. Leeds defender Diego Llorente is the second victim of contraction. The entire team is said to receive vaccination before the kick-off but no official decision has been made as Spain boss. Yet, Luis Enrique considers the side effect of it might could once again distract the team’s performance on the pitch. Thus, he also prepares 11 names in his pocket for covering Busquets and Llorente.
Sweden also faces the same issue with two names have been tested positive COVID-19. They are Juventus versatile Dejan Kulusevski and Bologna man Mattias Svanberg. They are currently in isolation and Janne Anderson has called up five names to replace them and put on the stand-by list.
The former Barcelona boss who is often nicknamed ‘Lucho’ has often been employing 4-3-3 formation. Gerrard Moreno should get a nod in the starting XI instead of the static Alvaro Morata. The Villareal top scorer can be accompanied by Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo. In the midfield, Busquets’ role can be give to Thiago Alcantara supported by Koke and Pedri or Fabian Ruiz in the midfield.
Meanwhile, Janne Anderson is still in favour of 4-4-2 formation. Alexander Isak becomes Blagult’s new hope as the new main scorer as he features upfront alongside the veteran Marcus Berg. On both flanks, Viktor Claesson and Emile Forsberg could be the best option left for Kulusevski’s post during his Juventus man’s absence here. In the midfield, Sebastian Larsson and Ken Serma or Albin Ekdal shall operate on the second line.
Players to watch
Gerrard Moreno is definitely Spain’s new expected main scorer. He has just finished his stellar season with a silverware in hand. He has just made eleven caps but netted five goals. Some other key names to watch are the defensive midfielder, Koke, the versatile Marcos Llorente and Mikel Oyarzabal. They could provide a new tactical approach in the tam and could be brought on to break the deadlock.
RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Emile Forsberg is certainly Blagut’s vital figure for a creative option from the second line. His different flair compared to most Swedish forward can be an advantage. Some other notable men who are expected to be capable of making the difference in this game are Robin Olsen, the youngster Alexander Isak and Victor Lindelof.
Spain vs Sweden prediction
Luis Enrique’s side should maximise their advantage to secure three points for safety since the Swedes’ attacking prowess has been reduced without Kulusevski and Ibrahimovic plus the aging Marcus Berg. The key to pick up a victorious result relies on how good their physical fitness will be for this encounter.
The punters definitely back La Furia Roja to win at 2/5. The draw result is at the value of 10/3, whereas Sweden’s odds to win are lower, only at 7/1.
