Sempala joined Tusker FC in 2016 was part of the Tusker match day team which attained won a double with the Kenyan side in the 2016 season – the KPL trophy and GOtv Shield Cup under the regime of Paul Nkata.
The Ugandan international stated that the club’s major challenge is slow starts and urged his teammates to maintain consistency and willpower right from the opening fixtures and fix their eyes on the title.
The 25-year-old midfielder featured for Gor in April last year for four months before he left the Kenya premier league Champions side following some off pitch issues before rejoining Tusker.
The midfielder calls on the club’s management to reinforce the squad with quality players and offer support to the technical bench to ensure they set a new record.
“We have a chance of winning the title if we start the season well. Before COVID-19 disrupted sporting activities, we had gone for more than 15 matches without losing and if we pick from where we left, then we will bag our 12th league title,” said Sempala.
“We have a strong squad which I believe will punch above its weight if we remain intact. The management has plans to win the league and with their support, we will achieve.” He added
His dream is to beat Gor Mahia who have long dominated the KPL elite title and he urges his teammates to join him in the mission as he believes they have what it takes.
“I have been sharing with my teammates the pride of winning the title and I hope they will be inspired to fight for it next season. Majority of the players who won it in 2016 are friends of the club and have been helping me in challenging the rest as we seek to end Gor’s dominance,” Sempala added.
