Preview and Prediction
It is another meeting of Thomas Tuchel and Julian Nagelsmann in the Champions League. Both are now in need of a win to keep their chance to advance alive. On match day four, it seems to be the best time for Neymar and Co to revenge their loss in the reverse fixture as the German side is currently still finding consistency in their form.
The teams’ previous games
PSG had a stunning defeat on the weekend while taking on Monaco on the road. They were beaten 2-3 despite having a two-goal cushion through Kylian Mbappe’s brace at the first half. The home side was able to make a great comeback by Kevin Volland’s brace and Cesc Fabregas’s winning goal from a penalty. It was their third loss this season in Ligue 1.
Leipzig also failed to secure a win last weekend while visiting Frankfurt as they could only muster a 1-1 draw. They conceded first by Aymen Barkok before Yusuf Poulsen could put them back on level terms. The result prevented them from climbing to the top of the table.
Thomas Tuchel is currently dealing with a crisis at the backline. Presnel Kimpembe, Thilo Kehrer and Juan Bernat are unavailable due to the suspension and injury, not to mention Idrisse Gueye, Andre Herrera, Marco Verratti, Mauro Icardi and Julian Drexler too. The defeat in Monaco should push Tuchel on deploying 4-3-3 again with Neymar, Mbappe and Angel Di Maria as the front trio while Danilo Perreira is likely to fill in Kimpembe’s post again to accompany Marquinhos.
Meanwhile, Julian Nagelsmann is expected to have something to surprise in the pocket although he would still opt for 3-5-2 first in the line up. Unfortunately, one of their top performers this season, Marcel Halstenberg is ruled out due to the injury alongside Lukas Klostermann, Konrad Laimer and Hwang Hee Chan.
Players to watch
Kylian Mbappe is still the top figures this season with nine goals and six assists in all competitions so far. Another notable name worth watching is the Italian youngster Moise Kean who has netted five goals so far. He could come off the bench on the second half for breaking the deadlock.
In Leipzig, the former Manchester City man, Angelino is one of Nagelsmann’s key men this season. He has contributed five goals and two assists so far, more than any of their forwards whose form are still disappointing but the Danish international Yusuf Poulsen.
PSG vs Leipzig Prediction
It is a tight clash for sure and both have the same objectives to seal three points here. No wonder if there is a chance of a goal galore here. However, the slight advantage is still on the home side. Tuchel’s men will eventually come out as a winner.
PSG is seemingly the clear favourite, according to the punters. Their win market is at 3/5, whereas RB Leipzig is only priced to win at 24/5. The odds for the draw result are at the value of 39/10.
