Brasil’s next fixture in World Cup Qualifier might be not that crucial. They are leading the standings with four points clear from their archrival Argentina. Their next opposition, Paraguay, remains unbeaten but only has only won once in five games. Miguel Almiron and Co will be hosting Tite’s men in Asuncion. However, the importance of this game is likely more related to Tite’s future at the helm of Selecao. There has been a rumour about him leaving the post to show his disagreement on hosting Copa America 2021 in Brasil which is slated to begin next week. The former Corinthias boss is reported to announce his decision on it after the game.
Both teams’ updated news
Paraguay managed to hold Uruguay in a goalless draw in the previous fixture. Eduardo Berizzo’s men were excellent in defending but poor on the attacking side. Fortunately, Uruguay is facing the same issue. Their aging forward, Luis Suarez, was frustrated to break the deadlock.
Meanwhile, Brasil clinched their fifth victory last week when they encountered Ecuador. Neymar was the man of the match as he contributed one assist for Richarlison’s goal and one goal through his penalty.
Eduardo Berizzo is likely to deploy a more pragmatic tactical approach, possibly with 3-5-1-1. Fabian Balbuena, Gustavo Gomez and Omar Aldrete are still featuring at the back. In the second line, Newcastle United man Miguel Almiron shall occupy the number ten and eight role combined to support Angel Romero as the targetman.
Tite will still be opting for 4-2-3-1 formation. Neymar is still the playmaker behind the Liverpool man Roberto Firmino as the frontman while Richarlison and Gabi Jesus will be operating on both flanks.
Players to watch
San Lorenzo forward, Angel Romero, is still the main scorer who has notched up four goals in the qualifiers. Some other key men to watch are the versatile and creative midfielder, Miguel Almiron, the Newcastle man scoring two goals in thirty appearances, and the attacking midfielder Oscar Romero who also plays for San Lorenzo.
In Selecao, the superstar Neymar remains the key man in Brasilian attack, despite not wearing the armband any longer. Some other notable figures to watch are Casemiro, the goalie Alisson Brecker and Everton forward Richarlison. The 24-year old winger has bagged nine goals in 24 caps.
Paraguay vs Brasil Possible result
Eduardo Berizzo’s side have limited option to pick up maximum points here considering Brasilian impressive attacking lines. Employing low block defensive stance and attempting to initiate a swift counter attack to score is one option, another one would be from the set piece scenario. If Paraguay could hold on in the deep and manage to frustrate Tite’s men, then a stalemate would seem very likely.
