Preview and Prediction
The Red Devils are aiming high this season after their success to return to the Champions League this season. Winning the Premier League would be an ultimate target. It is surely still long way to go to the silverware but with the confident team in the squad could help them seal a win on the first game at home this weekend while hosting Crystal Palace which started quite well in their opening match of EPL 2020/21 season.
The teams latest transfer news
Manchester United welcomed Ajax’s Danny Van de Beek and Dean Henderson, who returns to Old Trafford after spending two seasons on loan in Sheffield United, to their current squad. Those names are possibly not the last ones landed in Old Trafford as they are still in progress on signing some more well-known figures such as Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish and Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano. The Red Devils also terminated the contract of Alexis Sanchez and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace have only signed QPR’s Eberechi Eze and WBA’s Nathan Fergusson for free. The arrival of former Chelsea man, Michy Batsuayi would be a great addition to their squad, especially upfront as they had a limited option last season by only relying on Jordan Ayew too often while the other names on the bench such as Christian Benteke and Conor Wickham have been rather disappointing.
Ole Solskjaer will possibly deploy 4-2-3-1 formation. Bruno Fernandes will still be given a number-ten role. Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood will be playing wide to support Anthony Martial. Their new signings Danny Van de Beek shall earn his post in the starting IX accompanying Scott McTominay or Nemanja Matic due to the injury of Paul Pogba.
Roy Hodgson often prefers the classic English 4-4-2 formation relying on two wingers and two strikers with rather pragmatic approach. Jeffrey Schulpp and Andros Townsend will be operating on both flanks as wingers to deliver crossing, long passes or even penetrate the defence line as both excel in pace and long shots. Winfred Zaha and Jordan Ayew will be the main forward.
Players to watch
The Portuguese international Bruno Fernandes would carry on being the key man for The Red Devils to build up the attack alongside Van de Beek. On the front, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial should have their peak form, provided they do not stumble in a serious injury. Another notable name to watch here is the former Palace man, Aaron Wan Bissaka.
The Palace would still be counting on Winfred Zaha, despite his intention to move out of his boyhood club. The Ghanaian international Jordan Ayew is another key figure in the team plus the goalie who was the man of the match in the previous outing, Vincente Guaita.
Man United vs Crystal Palace Prediction
This clash may not be the tough start for the home side but Marcus Rashford and Co shall never underestimate Roy Hodgson’s men. With the better squad and more creative figures in the midfield, securing three points at home should be quite easy for Manchester United.
There is no surprise when it comes to the odds to win here. Solskjaer’s men are backed to win at 1.30, whereas the visitor’s win market is only at 9.00. The draw result is at the value of 5.50.
