Preview and Prediction
The clash of two classic contenders in the past is on the clock this weekend. Manchester United and Arsenal are now still in progress of rebuilding the team under the command of two former star of the club, Ole Solskjaer and Mikel Arteta. Both have enjoyed terrific result for their continental campaign and intend to carry on such positive spirit here when they are squaring off in Old Trafford.
The teams’ previous games
The Red Devils had an impressive victory over the German wonder, RB Leipzig this midweek. They smashed Julian Nagelsmann’s side 5-0. Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford’s hattrick brought them to ease past the former East German team.
Meanwhile, Arsenal was surprisingly defeated 0-1 while hosting Leicester City last weekend. A single goal of Jamie Vardy through his header was the only one which made the difference in the game. It was the Gunners’ third loss of the season already.
Ole Solksjaer is on mission to carry on their positive trend to improve their domestic campaign. The 3-4-1-2 formation with the transition to 3-4-2-1 seems fit for their current squad. Edison Cavani or Mason Greenwood could get a nod to fill in the targetman position as Anthony Martial is still serving his ban. Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes are the best option for the attacking midfielder as the former excels at the pace while the latter relies more on his creativity.
Mikel Arteta is seemingly in need of being more cautious in deploying his tactical formation. His regular 3-4-3 was a failure last weekend while opting for 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 does provide more offensive approach but that also means sacrificing their solid form. The absence of David Luiz, Willian and Gabriel Martinelli is only making it worse. The former Guardiola’s assistant might be in favour of 4-3-1-2 for the safe option. Alexander Lacazette and Pierre Aubameyang will be the duo frontman supported by Dani Ceballos who will be featuring the playmaker. In the midfield, Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka and Bukayo Saka will be operating the area to keep the balance of offence and defence.
Players to watch
Manchester United’s most improved ones this season are definitely Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. These three versatile players along with Bruno Fernandes, are likely to pose various attacking options.
Arsenal’s top performers this season are surprisingly the youngster Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Magalhaes. They have netted one goal each so far. Some other notable names to watch are Pierre Aubameyang and the Spaniard Dani Ceballos.
Manchester United vs Arsenal Prediction
This match is expected to be a decisive one for both teams which are still looking for consistency. If their negative trend endures, especially for Mikel Arteta,. On their current position might be in danger. Thus, both are likely to trade shots on goals and shorts on target for maximum points here and surely Marcus Rashford and Co shall seal another win in the end.
