Preview and Prediction
The Red Devils’ campaign is still positive this season but they must not lose points to be in a title race against their old rival, Liverpool. With only five points different, this season seems to be their chance to do so after several weeks sloping down below the top four. Their upcoming fixture against Wolverhampton would be vital for that mission. Only a win would bring them closer to the top. A draw or a loss would cost their current position.
The teams’ updated news
Manchester United were held in a 2-2 draw while travelling to King Power Stadium. Both team traded attacks but they had their lead by Marcus Rashford. Harvey Barnes equalised afterwards. On the second half, Bruno Fernandes then put them back on the lead. Yet, once again, the home side levelled the term as Jamie Vardy tucked away the ball.
Wolves were not so much different while hosting Spurs. Tanguy Ndombele found the back of their net first but Romain Saiss’s header denied the visitor’s prospective three points. They are still stuck on the 11th of the table.
Ole Solksjaer is likely to opt for 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-2-1 formation with Bruno Fernandes, as always to lead the attack. The return of Edison Cavani would be good news after serving his ban. The Uruguayan international could provide assists as well as a poacher up front. On both wings, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood or Anthony Martial will support the Portuguese playmaker. The only thing Solksjaer concerns are the absence of Viktor Lindelof and Aaron Wan Bissaka. The hole on the right back might be exposed if Axel Tuanzebe is not in his best form.
Nuno Santo seems to be more comfortable in deploying 4-2-3-1 despite the series of draw result. There are four players on their injury table including Raul Jimenex, Leander Dendoncker and Wily Boly. Daniel Podence is still the anchorman on their attack supported by Pedro Neto and Adama Traore. Pedro Silva is still the only option to occupy the target man role.
Players to watch
The Portuguese international Bruno Fernandes is still irreplaceable. However, he has the equal support now from Edison Cavani. The former PSG man has bagged three goals and provided two assists in Premier League, including one for his teammate. His experience playing in the top teams shall bring stronger mentality for Rashford, Martial and Greenwood who are still inconsistent at times.
Without the Mexican sensation Raul Jimenez on the pitch, Daniel Podence is the key man on the attack. The 25-year old Portuguese has netted three goals and made two assists in Premier League. Another notable name to watch is Pedro Neto.
Manchester United vs Wolves Prediction
This is a great chance for Solskajer’s men to pick up maximum points at home. Joao Moutinho and Co are not in their convincing form despite being able to hold Spurs in a draw. A definite win for the home side.
Marcus Rashford and Co are the clear favourite. They are backed to win at 5/8, whereas Nuno Santo’s men’s win market is at 11/2. The odds for a draw result are at 57/17.
