Preview and Prediction
The Red Devils’ hope to win the first EPL title since Sir Alex Fergusson left in 2013 is still very much alive. Although they are now sloping to the second with four points behind their noisy neighbour, Manchester City, Ole Solksjaer’s men could steal the race when the Citizens’ slip. That would need a constant non-stop win in the remaining games, including the upcoming one while hosting Everton.
The teams’ previous matches
Manchester United just ran riots against Southampton by hammering them 9-0 at home. Aaron Wan Bissaka’s goal opened the party followed by Marcus Rashford’s, Jan Bednarek’s own goal and Edison Cavani at the first half. In the second half, Anthony Martial’s brace plus Scott McTominay’s long range shot, Bruno Fernandes’s penalty and Daniel James’s flick completed the massive victory this season. It was the first 9-0 triumph since the game against Ipswich Town in 1994/95 season.
The Toffees were also back on winning ways after thumping Leeds United on the road. Gyfli Sigurdsson and Dominic Calvert-Lewin bagged the winning goals while the Whites only replied once by Raphinha
Solskajer will still be employing 4-2-3-1 with Anthony Martial on the front as the Uruguayan international Edison Cavani is doubtful to play here. On the wings, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood are still occupying the role.
Meanwhile, Carlo Ancellotti needs to consider deploying the tactical approach and formation to close down the United explosive attacking lines. Thus, the 4-3-2-1 seems more suitable. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the targetman, supported by James Rodriguez and Richarlison or Gylfi Sigurdsson. In the midfield, since Fabian Delph and Allan are still on the sideline along with Niels Nkoukou and Jordan Pickford, Aldoulaye Doucoure can be accompanied by Tom Davies and the former Barcelona man Andre Gomes to isolate Bruno Fernandes from his speedy teammates.
Players to watch
The Portuguese playmaker, Bruno Fernandes has been vital in Manchester United’s revival. He is the current top scorer with twelve goals and top assist provider with nine assists. Another notable name to focus on is surely Marcus Rashford.
The Toffees’ top scorer Dominic Calvert Lewin was back on the score sheet in the last outing, netting his twelve in Premier League this season. Another key man to watch is the Icelandic playmaker, Gylfi Sigurdsson who has registered three goals and two assists so far.
Manchester United vs Everton Prediction
United’s build-up relies on Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford too much, plus their winger. Once they are closed down or isolated, United is only likely to count on counter attack and set pieces. Only Ancelotti’s men creativity in exposing The Red Devils’ flaw is their key to go home with one point at least.
The home side is still the slight favourite here. They are projected to win at 6/11. In contrast, Everton’s win market is only at 28/5. Meanwhile, the draw result is at the value of 18/5.
