- Vihiga United striker Lawrence Luvanda has shown his commitment to see his club promoted to the top tier league. He has strived and ensured the club finished in the third position in the hotly contested National Super League.
“When I completed Form Four at Chavakali High School, having captained the school team for two years, I had a lot of expectations. I found myself at AFC Leopards but it was hard to compete with experienced and talented players which relegated me into a bench warmer,” said Luvanda.
“This affected me badly. However, some club officials and senior players encouraged me and asked me to remain patient and work hard but when the opportunity to joining Vihiga on loan came, I couldn’t hesitate,” he added.
He has promised to assist his team to repossess their position in the Kenya Premier League when the face Kisumu All-stars in the promotion playoff. The striker has challenged the team to sacrifice and work hard to achieve this endeavor.
Luvanda has praised his coach Okoth for enabling him to gain valuable experience which has enabled him to display his potential as a player.
The striker also attributed his success to the club management for quality leadership in supporting the team to get promoted to the top league.
“I believe Luvanda has what it takes to play at the top level if he maintains discipline and hard work. At his young age, he is on the right course. Let him learn from others and gather enough experience,” said Yakhama.
During the season, Luvanda scored three key goals for the club. He works together with Dennis Wafula and Mike Isabwa as the team’s strikers.
