Preview and Prediction
Nerrazurri is facing a game of life this midweek while playing host to Real Madrid to save their Champions League campaign this season. Romelu Lukaku and Co absolutely are not interested in competing in the second tier one again as last season, despite the fact that they managed to reach the final before losing to Sevilla dramatically. Although Los Blancos are also in need of a victory, the bigger pressure is certainly on the Italian side which has only been able to collect two points in three games.
Both teams’ previous games
Inter Milan had a fairly tough match in the previous outing in Serie A when facing off Torino. However, Conte’s men could make a stunning come back and eventually won 4-2 after conceding two goals first by Simone Zaza and Cristian Ansaldi. It was Alexis Sanchez which took advantage of the rumble in the six-yard box and scored a lifeline, followed by Romelu Lukaku’s brace. Lautaro Martinez finally gave them the two-goal cushion till the final whistle.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, were held in a 1-1 draw while visiting Estadio La Ceramica, Villareal. Although they took the lead by Mariano’s header, the home side could equalise through Gerrard Moreno’s penalty.
Antonio Conte is still confident deploying his unshakable 3-5-2 formation with the Belgian-Argentinean duet on the front. Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez are in progress of becoming one of the dealiest duos in Europe. Yet, some of his important figures such as Marco Brozovic, Stefano Sensi and Alexander Kolarov are ruled out here.
His former teammate in Juventus, Zinedine Zidane is still facing a crisis at the backline after the latest injury of Eder Militao. This just adds up the figures on the injury table with Federico Valverde, Sergio Ramos, Casemiro, Alvaro Odriozola and Karim Benzema who have been sidelined earlier. Therefore, Zizou needs to pick his starting IX carefully. Mariano Diaz might get a nod upfront again supported by Lucas Vazquez and Marco Asencio on both flanks, while Martin Odegaard occupies the number ten role.
Players to watch
The Belgian star, Romelu Lukaku is definitely the one who could bring the real danger in Los Blancos’ defence. He has bagged nine goals and provided two assists in all competition. Another key man to watch is surely his duet, Lautaro Martinez.
In Madrid, without Benzema in the squad and Hazard’s inconsistent form so far, Zidane could only rely on their Brazilian youngsters, Vinicius and Rodrygo, on the bench to shock Inter defence at the second half.
Inter vs Real Madrid Prediction
Playing at home does not necessarily give La Beniamata the advantage to secure a win. Yet, with the urge to win for their own sake, plus Madrid’s crisis on their defence, now should be the right time for Conte’s men to achieve their first victory in UCL.
