Preview and Prediction
After losing out in Coppa Italia and European competition, winning Serie A is the only target left for Antonio Conte to end the season satisfyingly. The good news is, it seems more possible than the previous seasons. They are just two points away from the top leader AC Milan and Juventus are still five points behind them. There is no time to end their thirst of glory than this season. This weekend, La Beniamata will be taking on Lazio which is aiming for top four this season.
The teams’ previous matches
Romelu Lukaku and Co secured a fairly easy win over Fiorentina last weekend. Nico Barella’s long range shot and Ivan Perisic’s tap into the back of the net helped them to pick up important points on the road.
Their counterpart, Lazio also sealed a win but had to struggle before they eventually scored. Their captain Ciro Immobile broke the deadlock to lift them up to the sixth of the table.
Antonio Conte is always deploying 3-5-2 in no exception. Luckily, his squad is physically fit without anyone being injured. The dynamic duo Lukaku and Martinez is their main scorer supported by the energetic Nico Barella and Achraf Hakimi out wide. Stefano Sensi and Alexis Sanchez can brought on st the second half if necessary.
Meanwhile, Simone Inzaghi’s also in favour of the similar formation. Yet, unlike Conte’s version of twin mobile strikers, his version tends to be more like 3-5-1-1 with Joaquin Correa dropping off to get the ball or penetrate the penalty box before providing assists while Immobile is featuring as the targetman. The only names of their injury table are the number one goalie, Thomas Strakosha.
Players to watch
Apart from the unstoppable Lukaku-Martinez, their top performers of the season are the Croatian defensive midfielder who becomes the top assist provider with six assists plus one goal. Some other notable names to watch are the wing back Achraf Hakimi and Nico Barella.
In Lazio, Ciro Immobile is still the main man up front with 14 goals and three assists in Serie A this season. Some other key men to focus on are Sergej-Milenkovic Savic and the Spaniard Luis Alberto.
Inter vs Lazio Prediction
As one of the most exciting clashes this season, Antonio Conte’s men will have to strive to pick up three points here. Ciro Immobile and Co are one of the toughest contender for them. Making no mistake is crucial here, as Juventus is looming to get closer with Nerrazurri. Yet, considering their form and focus lately, Inter could still snatch a narrow win here.
Neither side is the favourite in this expectedly tight encounter. The odds to share spoils are higher at 3/1. Lazio’s win market is at 18/5 whereas the home side is priced to win at the value of 13/16.
