The Reds’ campaign in Premier League this season might not be as impressive as expected. Yet, their chance to finish on top four for the Champions League spot is still open. This week will be a decisive one for Juergen Klopp’s men since their last two games are staged. The first opponent on their list is Burnley, which has been saved from relegation. A win here is a must for their own target.
The teams’ previous matches
The Clarets slumped to a 0-4 defeat from Leeds United last weekend. The Whites’ winning goals were scored by Mateusz Klitch, Jack Harrison and Rodrigo Moreno with his brace. It has been Sean Dyche’s side’s 17 loss this season.
Their counterpart, Mo Salah and Co’s positive trend endured against The Baggies last weekend. They made a comeback after conceding first through Hal Robson Kanu but Mo Salah equalised. Their winning goal came late by the goalie Alison’s header.
Possible tactic
Sean Dyche is bound to deploy his favorite 4-4-2 with New Zealand international Chris Woods and Ashley Barnes or Matej Vydra featuring upfront. They will gain support from two wingers,Dwight McNeill and John Gudmunsson. Some names still ruled out here are Robbie Brady, Nick Pope, Kevin Long, Dale Stephens and Phil Beardsley.
Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp is in favour of 4-3-3 with Mo Salah, Firmino and Sadio Mane upfront. The number of key figures in their injury table is mounting as Diogo Jota, James Milner, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Ozan Kabak are ruled out for this fixture adding up their crisis at the defence.
Players to watch
Burnley’s top performers this season are their top scorer Chris Woods with 12 goals and three assists, the youngster, Dwight McNeilll contributing two goals and five assists. Another notable name to watch is the defender James Tarkowski.
The Reds’ main scorer is still Mo Salah with 22 goals and four assists, a lot more than his duets, Firmino and Mane who has just bagged 17 goals combined. Another key figure to focus on is the La Masia graduate, Thiago Alcantara.
Burnley vs Liverpool Prediction
Jurgen Klopp’s side should snatch another win here. The Clarets have been in poor form lately. Sean Dyche’s side might be struggling too for three points and finish in a higher position. A victory will keep them on the track.
