Preview and Prediction
The UEFA Super Cup 2020 is finally approaching. This is the official match which marks the trial for the official return of the fans into the venue during this covid-19 outbreak. In this current edition, Bayern Munich as the Champions League winner and Sevilla the Europa League champions will be squaring off in Puskas Arena, Budapest this midweek. Both teams are eyeing for the next silverware this year.
The teams’ updated news
Die Roeten has begun their domestic campaign with a massive victory over Schalke as they trashed The Royal Blues 8-0. In the current transfer window, they have just released Thiago Alcantara to Liverpool for 30 million Euros after signing Leroy Sane from Manchester City. Bayern also decided not to tie up Ivan Perisic and Phillipe Coutinho permanently despite their consistent form in all competitions last season.
Meanwhile, Sevilla has been more active this summer. They have made five vital signings such as AC Milan’s Suso, Real Madrid’s Oscar Rodriguez, the former Barcelona man who previously was a key player in Sevilla, Ivan Rakitic and Girona’s goalie who performed well as their loanee in Europa League last season Bounou and Sporting Lisbong left back, Marcos Acuna. The Andalusian side recalled their promising loanees as well such as Carlos Fernandez, Bryan Gil and Alejandro Pozo. They will be impressive covers for Sergio Rico, Simon Kjaer, Rony Lopes and Ever Banega who have been sold and released for free or on loan.
Possible tactic
Hans Flick is unlikely to make changes in his favourite 4-2-3-1 formation. His squad has more than enough to cover the departure of Thiago plus the return of Coutinho and Ivan Perisic. The quartet of Lewandowski, Thomas Muller, Serge Gnarby and Leroy Sane on the front is daunting and they are capable of scoring the goals look easier. On the injury table, only David Alaba dan Kingsley Coman are sidelined.
Julen Lopetegui has always been opting for 4-3-3 formation. Lucas Ocampos, Luuk De Jong and Suso or Munir El Haddadi are still the key figures on the attack. Carlos Fernandez who spent a year on loan in Granada last season, is potentially able to make the difference in the second half, should he be given a chance to do so.
Players to watch
Bayern’s attacking quartet is the most deadly one in Europe at the moment, possible for the entire season too. In the midfield, two local talents, Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich are worth considering as one of the most solid midfielders recently and in the years to come.
The Argentine winger Lucas Ocampos is likely to continue being the top performer of the team alongside Jules Kunde, Jesus Navas and the new anchorman in the midfield Ivan Rakitic. Another notable name to watch is the Dutchman Luuk De Jong.
Bayern vs Sevilla Prediction
Hans Flick’s men’s continual impressive form earlier this season might endure here. They seem unstoppable again to carry on winning silverwares. However, it does not mean that Jesus Navas and Co will be an easy target to clinch another big win. If Julen Lopetegui could come up with a stunning tactical approach to hold off the defence line and strike fast or force Bayern’s defenders to make mistake plus avoiding being conceded, then their chance to snatch a victory is open.
Betting odds
The game is likely to be uneven. Sevilla is only backed to win at 7.60 whereas Bayern’s win market is much higher at 1.35. The odds for the draw result are at 5.65.
