Preview and Prediction
Bayern’s domination in Bundesliga seems to be still unshakeable this season. They are still on the top with four points different to their constant rival over the past few years, Borussia Dortmund. This weekend Hans Flick’s men’s positive trend is still likely to continue while hosting Frankfurt, which is currently sloping to the relegation zone, on the 13th of the standings.
The teams’ previous matches
Die Roeten easily picked up three points while visiting Union Berlin’s home base. They thumped the host two nil by Robert Lewandowski’s penalty and Benjamin Pavard’s strike. That was a crucial result for them to keep their safe distance from Dortmund.
Frankfurt’s form does not seem to make any improvement yet after the break. Last weekend, they were beaten by Gladbach 1-3. They even had been conceded twice in less than ten minutes by Alessane Plea and Marcus Thuram at the first half. Ramy Bensebaini tripled the lead by his penalty before AC Milan loanee, Andre Silva scored a consolation goal.
Possible tactic
Hans Flick’s favourite formation is still 4-2-3-1. With the best squad in Bundesliga plus some young talents, he should have no difficulty to pick the best line up even without Niklas Sule, Corentin Tolisso and Phillippe Countinho, who are sidelined due to their injury.
On the other hand, Adolf Hutter’s regular 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 formation seems to be in need of a change. His 4-4-1-1 seems to be ineffective as well. He might need to consider 5-3-2 or 5-4-1 formation with a pragmatic approach and relying on counter attack and set pieces more to create chances and goals against the much stronger side as Bayern. Andre Silva should be given the chance to be the main forward because of his seemingly constant form. He can be supported by Timothy Chandler and Danny Da Costa as wing backs since Filip Kostic and Goncalo Pacienca are on the sideline due to their suspension and injury.
Players to watch
Bayern has a number of key men in the squad and it will be quite hard to pick some as they have some for each lines. Their current top scorer is surely Robert Lewandowski with twenty six goals only in Bundesliga while the top assist provider is Thomas Muller with sixteen assists so far.
In Frankfurt, the most notable figures in the team are the wing back Filip Kostic with four goals and eight assists, the Portuguese international Andre Silva who has scored five goals so far and the Austrian centre back, Martin Hinteregger who surprisingly has bagged six goals.
Possible result
The disappointing run of Hutter’s men might continue here in Allianz Arena as Thomas Muller and Co have been invincible since their loss against Gladbach on December last year. A definite three points for them, unless Adolf Hutter’s men could come up with a shocking tactics.
Betting odds
Being the host surely leads FC Hollywood as the clear favourite. They are priced to win at 1.17. The draw result is at 7.35, while the visitor’s win market is only at 13.50.
