Preview and Prediction
AC Milan’s consistency will be tested in the next few games as they will be without their inspiring veteran forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic who is still injured. This midweek is one the first tough match to go through. Rossonero will be playing host to Lazio, which is still sloping to the 8th of the table. Yet, Simone Inzaghi’s men remain one of the most challenging team this season.
The teams’ previous matches
Milan had to struggle to secure three points while visiting Sassuolo. They thumped the host 2-1 by Rafael Leao’s goal, which happens to the fastest one in Serie A history, and Alexis Saelemaekers’ 25 minutes later. The home side could only score a consolation goal one minute before the final whistle by Domenico Berrardi.
Lazio also sealed an important victory at their home turf while taking on Napoli. They dismantled Gatusso’s men 2-0 by Ciro Immobile and Luis Alberto. It is their second win in the past seven games so far.
The former Lazio boss, Stefano Pioli, might still be deploying 4-2-3-1 with Rafael Leao as the main forward. He is the only notable one available as Ante Rebic is also sidelined due to the injury beside Ibrahimovic. Some other players on the injury table are Simon Kjaer and Ismael Bennacer, whereas Frank Kessie is suspended.
Simone Inzaghi, Pioli’s successor in Lazio, still sticks to his favourite 3-5-2 or 3-5-1-1 and 3-4-2-1 since day one in Lazio. Ciro Immobile is still the main scorer and he will be supported by Joaquin Correa and Luis Alberto behind him. The ones on the injury table at the moment are Marco Parolo, Senad Lulic and Lucas Leiva.
Players to watch
The Turkish international Hakan Calhanoglu remains to be the playmaker of the team. He is the top assists provider with four assists so far. Another notable name to watch is surely the Portuguese youngster Rafael Leao who has scored three goals and made three assists in nine appearances.
Lazio’s key men are still the Serbian international Sergej Milenkovic-Savic with 3 goals and 3 assists and the former Liverpool man, Luis Alberto who has notched two goals so far apart from the targetman Ciro Immobile.
AC Milan vs Lazio Prediction
Hakan Cahanoglu and Co will be involved in a tight clash here as Lazio is flying high with confidence after their last outing. They will have to be careful not to concede as their commander at the back, Simon Kjaer is ruled out. The match could end up in a goalless draw or 1-1 but neither side will be able to snatch maximum points here.
Despite playing at home, AC Milan is not considered as the favourite here. Their odds to win are at 39/29 whereas the draw result is higher, which is at 11/4. Biancoceleste is projected to win at 9/4.
