Preview and Prediction
The clash of two classic rivals in Serie A, Rossonerri and La Vecchia Signora is the real test for AC Milan and Andrea Pirlo personally. Stefano Pioli’s men are still leading the standings with 37 points, or ten points above Juventus which are still stranded on thr fifth of the table. Milan’s consistency will be challenged by Andrea Pirlo who has not been able to settle the tactical formation yet.
The teams’ previous matches
Milan managed to pick up a fairly easy win while meeting Fillippo Inzaghi’s Benevento on the road. They crushed the home side 2-0. Frank Kessie’s penalty and Rafael Leao’s goal gave them the maximum points to keep their position.
Juventus also secured a big win while playing host to Udinese. They trashed Rodrigo de Paul and Co 4-1. Cristiano Ronaldo was the man of the match again by bagging a brace plus providing one assist for Federico Chiesa. Another goal was scored by Paulo Dybala. Udinese could only net a consolation goal by Marvin Zeegelaar.
Stefano Pioli has always been in favour of 4-2-3-1, despite Ibrahimovic’s absence. Ismael Saelemakers, Matteo Gabbia and Ismael Bennacer are also ruled out due to the injury while the former Brescia man, Sandro Tonali is serving his ban. At the front, the Portuguese youngster will get the nod again to occupy the targetman role, supported by Hakan Calhanoglu behind him while Ante Rebic and Samuel Castillejo will be operating on both flanks.
Meanwhile, Andrea Pirlo has been quite comfortable employing 4-4-2 formation. Yet, the absence of their two wing backs, Juan Cuadrado and Alex Sandro due to testing positive covid-19, might force him to deploy Danilo and Frabotta to take over their post and modify the formation to 4-3-1-2. Ronaldo and Dybala will be the frontmen while Aaron Ramsey could be featuring the number-ten role, supported by Weston McKennie, Adrien Rabiot and Federico Chiesa.
Players to watch
Rossonerro’s top scorer might be Ibrahimovic but they have Rafael Leao to rely on scoring. The 21-year old Portuguese has bagged 4 goals and three assists, the same number as Theo Hernandez. The top assist provider is still the Turkish talisman, Hakan Calhanoglu.
Apart from Cristiano Ronaldo who has netted 14 goals and provided two assists in Serie A, the versatile Federico Chiesa has been one of their key figures as well by contributing two goals and three assists. Another notable name to watch is the American youngster, Weston McKennie.
AC Milan vs Juventus Prediction
Hakan Calhanoglu and Co should have the advantage on their side as Juventus will be playing without their key men on both flanks. If Stefano Pioli’s men could exploit the holes in their flank, they could seal an important win here.
