Preview and Prediction
Derby Millanello seems to be on schedule at the right time. Inter has just toppled Milan last weekend, then both teams will be squaring off to prove who truly deserves to be on the top. Not to mention the row between Inter’s Romelu Lukaku and Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Rossoneri’s side in their last meeting in Coppa Italia. This is definitely the most anticipated clash this season. Whichever side wins this shall take the top of the table.
Both teams’ previous games
Rossonerri was stunned by a 0-2 loss against Spezia on the road last weekend. Guilio Maggiore opened the scoring and Simone Bastoni doubled their lead. It was their third defeat in the last six games in all competition.
Meanwhile, Nerrazurri managed to dismantle Lazio 3-1 at their home turf. Romelu Lukaku was the man of the match by netting twice and providing one assists for Lautaro Martinez. They only conceded one by Sergej-Milenkovic Savic.
Stefano Pioli seems to be sticking to his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation. Ibrahimovic will be leading the attack while Hakan Calhanoglu is featuring the number ten role supported by Rafael Leao and Ante Rebic on both flanks. The only names on the sidelines are Brahim Diaz and Danielle Maldini.
Antonio Conte is now confident with his 3-5-2. Duo frontman Lukaku and Martinez are the best one upfront. In the midfield, Nico Barella and Marcelo Brozovic will be accompanied by Achraf Hakimi and Matteo Darmian out wide plus Stefano Sensi in the middle. The only Conte’s concern is the absence of the Chilean international Arturo Vidal.
Players to watch
When it comes to key figures, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the one of the top. Besides the former Swedish international, there are the top assist provider Hakan Calhanoglu with eight assists, the left back Theo Hernandez with four goals and assists each and the second top scorer, Frank Kessie who has bagged seven goals plus two assists.
In Conte’s squad, apart from the great Romelu Lukaku and his duet Lautaro Martinez, there are some notable names in the squad such as Nico Barella who has registered three goals and five assists, the wing back Achraf Hakimi with six goals and four assists in Serie A.
AC Milan vs Inter Prediction
Serie A seems to be the last hope for Inter to end their thirst of glory and silverware after they were out of continental competition. It will also mean a lot for Conte who once initiated Juventus’s domination. It will be interesting that he would be the one who could end it too. This match is one of the most decisive one for that ambition. There is really no season like this one for both sides. However, the game might end in a draw.
It is one intriguing encounter. Stefano Pioli’s men are backed to win at 11/4, which are the same odds for the draw results, whereas Romelu Lukaku and Co’s win market is at 11/10.
